Yorkshire and Humber Supporting People Regional Research
Summary:
This research was funded by the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Housing Board in order to ensure that the Regional Supporting People strategy is able to identify where investment is needed in the region and specifically to ensure that Supporting People is fully addressed in future Regional Housing Strategies. The research was supported by the Yorkshire & Humberside Housing Forum and the National Housing Federation and was managed by a steering group of individuals working in the Supporting People field.
The purpose of the Research is to gain a better understanding of the Supporting People picture across the region and to assess whether current local authority priorities give a sound basis on which to build a coherent and robust regional strategy. It examines the issues around the provision and funding of supported housing and the growing gap between demand and supply of move-on accommodation. It also highlights examples of good practice in respect of joint commissioning and cross boundary working and goes some way to testing out the extent to which the right strategic links and alignments are being made between Supporting People and other strategies across the region. The engagement of housing and Supporting People with the development Local Area Agreements (LAAs) is also considered.
The research will be available to support the delivery of the Supporting People 5-Year Strategies for each of the fifteen Supporting People Authorities in the region. It can also be used to support other strategies and plans where these have links to the provision of housing related support services.
The full report will be available on the Yorkshire & Humberside Housing Forum website from 7th May 08 (YHHF website is currently in development).
